Lovely stay at the Bergen Gem!
Positive: We had an amazing stay at the Bergen Gem, 4 adults and 3 children! The neighborhood is lovely and an easy walk to Bergen Center, Bryggen, and the tram. The beds were comfy, the shower had nice pressure and great hot water. Everything was clean and the decor was perfectly Norwegian simple. There is a washer and dryer which was great due to some rainy days. Kitchen was well equipped and there is even a dishwasher. Things are cozy, including the stairs but they weren’t a problem for the 3 generations in my family. If you have large suitcases, take the downstairs bedrooms or travel with backpack suitcases! The owner was very communicative and had we had any issues, I’m sure they would’ve been addressed immediately!
Finally, I highly recommend booking a sauna on the Fjord, it was amazing!

Tutto bene!

Disappointing
Positive: The location is definitely the main strength of this property, practically in the city center, in a charming and very characteristic neighborhood.
Negative: The description of the house is neither detailed nor accurate.
The house has a tiny entrance where it is difficult even to take off your shoes. On the right is the first double bedroom, while on the left there is a very small bathroom with a toilet and shower.
To access the second, very small bedroom, you have to walk through the double bedroom, so there is absolutely no privacy for either room.
The third bedroom is located in the attic, and to reach it you have to climb two very narrow and uncomfortable flights of stairs, where it is impossible to carry a suitcase. There is only one toilet on the first floor. Yet the house is advertised as accommodating 6–8 people.
When we arrived, the house was also dirty and poorly maintained. The refrigerator was broken, and there was leftover food in the kitchen.
We made the manager aware of the issues, but they did nothing to address them other than offering a discount on a future stay. Needless to say, we will never stay here again.
